Cidadania em Jogo: TU decides!: jogo digital já chegou a todo o país e está pronto para entrar em ação nas escolas

After months of development, real-world testing, and active listening to our users, the digital game Cidadania em Jogo: TU decides! (Citizenship at Stake: YOU decide!) is officially ready to be played from the North to the South of the country (and registrations have already arrived from the islands, and even from schools in Angola and Brazil!).

This marks the beginning of a new chapter, where hundreds of teachers and thousands of students will be able to explore, debate, and decide — together — on the themes of global citizenship and democratic participation.

Um ano de criação, testes e escuta ativa

Over the 12 months of the project, an original game was created from scratch in partnership with Rato-ADCC. The game was tested and fine-tuned in the classroom with 20 groups from Year 7 to Year 10 (6th to 9th grades). It was also implemented across diverse educational settings — including community youth groups, homework clubs, and tutoring sessions — always with the goal of ensuring the experience adapts to the reality of schools and young people. In total, approximately 600 students were involved in this initial phase, and over 60 teachers have already signed up for the game.

The game benefited from a specialist critical review by Associação Renovar a Mouraria, the project’s official partner. However, it also drew on the keen insights of partner organisations that provided a thorough critical analysis. The Gonçalo da Silveira Foundation contributed to consolidating human rights content; AIDGlobal focused on interculturality; and FEC helped to strengthen the themes of sustainable development. The contributions from all partners, teachers, and students are being integrated to ensure continuous improvement in the service of transformative education.

We would like to highlight the invaluable collaboration of the students and teachers from the Agrupamento de Escolas Patrício Prazeres, particularly those in Year 8 and Year 10 (7th and 9th grades), who tested the game during its most initial and challenging phase; we also extend our thanks to the students and teachers from AE Rainha Dona Leonor and AE de Alvalade, who supported the consolidation of the testing phase.
