The project ‘TOD@S IN em Alvalade – Social inclusion through education in a post-pandemic context’ has the overall objective of increasing the academic success of the most vulnerable children and young people through individualised tutoring for emotional management and study support, group activities and family involvement.

This tutoring will be carried out by a network of volunteer tutors from the community and by teachers from the EB Almirante Gago Coutinho and EB Eugénio dos Santos schools, where the children and young people will be monitored. As part of the project, the team of tutors will undergo 16 hours of certified and accredited training.

The first training session took place on 25 January. Organised by the Lisbon City Foundation, in partnership with Par-Respostas Sociais, it focused on training tutors to plan tutorials and family involvement.

Over the course of four hours, the tutors carried out practical exercises. We addressed topics such as the profile and role of the tutor, planning tutorials, and how to promote family involvement. We also talked about how to get to know the child and assess their needs in order to better adapt the approach and teaching resources to be used. It was a session rich in learning and experience sharing that further motivated the tutors to start the tutorials.

E as tutorias também já começaram!

On 11 February, tutoring sessions began with a total of 50 children and young people who will receive more than 1,000 hours of guidance and support. The training of the network of tutors will also continue in February and March.
