In Mission 3 of the game Cidadania em Jogo: TU decides!, promoted by the Fundação Cidade de Lisboa, young people are invited to look closely and critically at the world around them. By exploring their local context — whether in school, their neighbourhood, their city, or even their country — they are challenged to identify specific instances of discrimination.

This mission, part of the Interculturality Galaxy, begins with a provocative question:
“What about in your school? In your street? In your neighbourhood? Are there situations of discrimination?”

The objective is clear: to lead participants to recognise the prejudices or inequalities that may exist around them, to reflect on the impact of these realities on their communities, and to take action by raising awareness about one of the problems they have identified.

Taking action for a fairer society

Taking action for a fairer society

Working in teams, young people choose an issue that concerns them and that they want to highlight to their peers and the wider community. The challenge consists of creating an awareness-raising piece, such as a poster, a social media image, or a video.

During the game’s testing phase, the young participants demonstrated great engagement and creativity. Across the three galaxies, the themes that mobilised them the most were: racism, violence and bullying, social and gender inequalities, and environmental issues.

Over 40 awareness posters created

To date, more than 40 awareness posters have been created, featuring strong and impactful messages. Many of these materials will be used in future initiatives developed by schools.

Mission 3 is also an excellent opportunity to develop skills such as creative expression, collaborative work, and critical thinking, encouraging participants to move from reflection to concrete action: the first step towards becoming more engaged citizens.
