About the Empower to Educate Project

What for?

Overall objective: to promote, among the educational community in the Galinheiras neighbourhood, an intervention that enhances school success and the psychosocial development of vulnerable children, helping to break the cycles of exclusion and poverty.

Specific objectives:

  • To train strategic actors in the Galinheiras neighbourhood school community to intervene in vulnerable contexts;
  • To strengthen the school-family-community relationship in order to increase the academic success of children and young people in the neighbourhood and break cycles of exclusion;
  • To disseminate good practices in educational intervention with children, young people and families from vulnerable contexts.

For whom?

Direct beneficiaries: children, families, teachers and the school community in primary education in the Galinheiras area.

How?

Main Activities:

  • Accredited training for teachers working in vulnerable contexts
  • Creation of a Guide to Good Practices for academic success in vulnerable contexts
  • Dissemination of the Course and Guide among educational communities
