What for?
Overall objective: to contribute to the psychosocial, academic and civic development of migrant pupils in the municipality of Lisbon who are in vulnerable situations, and to their integration into the host community.
Specific objectives:
1) To improve migrant pupils’ ability to understand, produce and interact in Portuguese, both orally and in writing;
2) To increase migrant students’ motivation and academic success, stimulating their personal and social development;
3) To raise awareness (among students, volunteers and the community) of
issues relating to interculturalism and global citizenship, encouraging the exercise of active citizenship.
Who is it for?
Direct beneficiaries: immigrant pupils from the São João de Brito neighbourhood who have difficulties with the Portuguese language.
How??
Main Activities:
- Establish and train a network of ACV.pt facilitators (tutors and volunteer facilitators);
- Conduct academic and socio-educational support sessions – tutoring to develop Portuguese language skills;
- Carry out initiatives to support parental involvement: facilitating individual or group sessions with parents to report on the intervention and reflect on socio-educational support for their children;
- Facilitate reflection-action activities for citizenship: activities and workshops with the classes of the supported pupils to promote intercultural understanding.
